Another important requirement is a larger down payment. While traditional mortgages may require a down payment of 5% to 20%, jumbo loans often require at least 20% or more. In some cases, lenders may even require up to 30% or more, however, recently some lenders have started offering jumbo loans with a lower down payment of 10%.
